Red to Host First Ever Big Mountain Snowboard Challenge in BC

This Saturday, March 28th, Red Mountain Resort is partnering with Red Bull, Dakine, Smith, Rossvegas, Mountain FM and the Trail Times to bring you the first ever Big Mountain Snowboard Challenge. The Red Line is a big mountain competition with a slopestyle twist that will be held under the Motherlode Chair on Link’s Line.

The Red Line is open to snowboarders 11 years and older and will showcase large drops, rail features and challenging terrain for competitors to negotiate.

Riders will have the option to compete in the Amateur or Pro category. Winners of the Amateur Category will receive a variety of great prizes; competitors in the Pro Category will take home a piece of the $3,700 cash purse! Please note that the Pro and Amateur categories are open to all snowboarders 11 years and older. You do not have to be a professional snowboarder to compete in the Pro category.

Stick around after the competition to watch the Big Air Expression Session Invitational. Some of the Kootenay’s top skiers and boarders will be hitting Teddy’s Hump at the base of Link’s Line end of day Saturday so be sure to come out and watch these talented locals battle for the Big Air claim to fame!

The Red Line schedule is as follows:

Friday, March 27th
9:00am – 3:00pm: Waiver signing & pick up bib at Tickets & Guest Services
9:00am – 12noon: The Red Line Inspection & Training on Links Line
1:00pm – 3:00pm: Big Air Inspection & Training on Teddy’s Hump (Invitation Only)
4:30pm: Mandatory Athletes Meeting, Sourdough Cafeteria in Base Lodge

Saturday, March 28th
7:30am: Athletes load chair – Silverlode & Motherlode
8:00am – 9:00am: The Red Line Inspection & Training
9:00am – 12:30pm: The Red Line Qualifier
12:30pm-1:00pm: Big Air Inspection & Training (Invitation Only)
1:00pm-2:30pm: The Red Line Final
2:30pm-3:30pm: Big Air Invitational
8:00pm: Awards Ceremony, Sourdough Cafeteria in Base Lodge
9:00pm: Red Bull After-Party, Rafters (19 years and older)
