What’s New at the Rossland Public Library
Coming soon to a computer near you: Free wireless internet access will soon be available at the library in Rossland. Great for students, visitors to Rossland, or anyone who has a laptop, we have added the wireless service for our patrons’ convenience.
In order to serve our community better, Rossland is one of the first West Kootenay libraries to implement a new computer system called Evergreen. This integrated library system allows library customers to find library materials and will help us to manage, catalogue and circulate those materials more efficiently. Evergreen is an open source software system, making it much more cost-effective than traditional software. This new technology should be up and running by the end of February.
As of January 1st, the library has new operating hours. For your convenience, we are now open Mon – Wed 1:00pm – 8:00pm, Thursday 10:00am – 8:00pm, Friday 10:00am – 6:00pm, Sat – Sun 1:00pm – 5:00pm. Notice that we are now open Thursday mornings as well as Fridays now.
We have extended our loan period to 3 weeks for books and magazines, including our newest titles. Following requests from patrons, our book drop is now open 24/7, making returning your library materials easier than ever.
