Rossland student Kristen Lloyd’s design won the contest to create the new image for Rossland’s reusable bag. The contest and bag are sponsored by Greener Footprints a local non-profit group dedicated to reducing waste in our daily lives.

Kristen is shown accepting the $100 prize from Greener Footprints’ Kathy Moore with RSS art teacher Joost Winckers looking on. Key sponsors this year are the Nelson and District Credit Union, the City of , the RDKB and local businesses: Bear Country Kitchen, Revolution Cycles, Tails, Sunshine Café, Enviro-bear and Century 21.

Last year the Greener Footprints spearheaded the effort to get a bag in every household. Since January 2007 5,000 bags have been distributed; mostly through donations collected at local retailers in Rossland.

Any interested sponsors are encouraged to contact Kathy Moore 362-3319.
