Revised Arrow Flow Change Notification

BC Hydro would like to notify the public that the Arrow Lakes Reservoir flow change schedule for this weekend has been revised to accommodate the ongoing guidewall repairs at the Hugh L. Keenleyside Dam. The revised schedule is as follows:

When combined with the outflows from the Kootenay River, Columbia River levels at Birchbank are expected to see an increase in water levels of about 1.34 metres (4.4 feet) over five days from the current levels. Please make safety your top priority when planning activities near the Columbia River.

BC Hydro would like to notify the public that the discharge rates from Arrow Lakes Reservoir will increase noticeably from Friday, March 13 to Sunday, March 15:
· At 4 p.m. on Friday, March 13th, the discharge rate will increase from approximately 396 cubic metres per second (14,000 cubic feet per second) to about 538 cubic metres per second (19,000 cubic feet per second).
· At 7 a.m. on Saturday, March 14th, the discharge rate will increase from approximately 538 cubic metres per second (19,000 cubic feet per second) to about 680 cubic metres per second (24,000 cubic feet per second).
· At 8 a.m. on Saturday, March 14th, the discharge rate will increase from approximately 680 cubic metres per second (24,000 cubic feet per second) to about 821 cubic metres per second (29,000 cubic feet per second).
· At 7 a.m. on Sunday, March 15th, the discharge rate will increase from approximately 821 cubic metres per second (29,000 cubic feet per second) to about 963 cubic metres per second (34,000 cubic feet per second).
· At 8 a.m. on Sunday, March 15th, the discharge rate will increase from approximately 963 cubic metres per second (34,000 cubic feet per second) to about 1019 cubic metres per second (36,000 cubic feet per second).
These changes are due to Columbia River Treaty coordination agreements. When combined with the outflows from the Kootenay River, Columbia River levels at Birchbank are expected to see an increase in water levels of about 1.37 metres (4.5 feet) over 3 days from the current levels.
