The Dead South at the Flying Steamshovel

Canadian bluegrass powerhouse band, The Dead South, has a fine sound and will be at Rossland’s Flying Steamshovel on July 21. Voted 2015’s “Best Band” in Prairie Dog Magazine’s “Best of Regina”, The Dead South will be embarking on an extensive Canadian tour starting July 15th in Calgary.
The band’s style stops traffic with their white shirts, black suspenders, black pants and travellers’ hats, encouraging everyone attending their performances to kick back, enjoy the music and forget what era they’re in.
The Dead South makes their music with banjos, mandolins, cellos and guitars with vocals, and some whistles and finger snapping. Lyrically, their songs have a large spectrum from happy fun songs like “Travellin’ Man,” which refers to the love of the outdoors, to fun but dangerous songs like “In Hell I’ll Be In Good Company,” where a man suspects his wife is cheating and knows if he kills her he’ll see her in hell as well, all the way to passionate love songs like “Honey You.”
