Remembrance Day, 2017, was cold and drizzly in Rossland, but crowds turned out to pay their respects to those who have lost their lives in war. Mayor Moore read the roll of names, and the gathered crowds listened to a thought-provoking speech about the causes of war, and about whether we who live in freedom are living in ways that honour the sacrifice of all those lives in war. Some are, and some aren’t, the speaker concluded, and asked everyone to think about how we use our freedom.
