Bike season is upon us and Nelson and District Credit Union continues to support the passion of its members, and the communities it supports, with financial contribution for fundraisers and events.

This year the Credit Union is proud to be supporting P’Nina Shames and Timothy Jackson in their efforts to raise donations and find a cure through the MS Society of Canada’s local MS Bike event.

“For the last four years, I've ridden in the MS ride with team Rear Guard, to help end MS and I am riding again this year on July 6-7," said MS Rider P’nina Shames.

Every day three more Canadians are diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, an unpredictable illness that affects vision, balance, memory, mood and mobility. We don’t know what causes MS and there is no cure.

But research and support are uncovering strategies that help to get us closer. In the meantime, MS doesn't discriminate — it can hit anyone. Especially Canadians, where the incidence is highest, worldwide.”

In addition to supporting the MS Ride, Nelson and District Credit Union will once again be sponsoring the Nelson Fat Tire Festival for the 17th straight year. Fat Tire Fest happens on the July 12-14 weekend this year. Annual support goes towards sponsoring all the kid’s participating in the cross-country races on the Sunday morning.

Families are encouraged to get to Morning Mountain early on the Sunday morning of July 14 to get registered, while also purchasing a Nelson Cycling Club membership which is required to participate. More details can be found at www.nelsonfattire.com
