Two Calgarian motorcyclists were badly injured in a crash Sunday, according to Trail RCMP top cop Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.

“On Aug. 11, at approximately 9 p.m., the Trail and Greater District Detachment RCMP attended a motor vehicle incident where two motorcycles that were travelling in the same direction collided as each other while on Highway 3B and Bear Creek Road in Trail.  A 55-year-old motorcyclist from Calgary, Alberta, was being followed by a 36-year-old female motorcyclist from Calgary, Alberta when she drove through some gravel and lost control of her motorcycle which causing the motorcycle to slide onto its side. The 36-year-old female motorcyclist could not stop in time, hit the sliding bike, and flew over her handlebars. The 55-year-old motorcyclist suffered broken ribs, lacerations, and possibly a collapsed lung. The 36-year-old female motorcyclist suffered injuries to her left leg.  Both were transported to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail for emergency treatment.

“The Trail and Greater District Detachment RCMP remind motorcyclists to use extra caution during their riding season. Loose gravel, poor road surface conditions, weather, animals, driver inattention, and other road hazards have a much greater impact on our motorcyclist riders due to the high risk of injury if an incident occurs.”
