One person is in custody and two more are under investigation after a weekend traffic stop, according to Trail top cop RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.

“On Sunday, Aug. 1, at 2:10 a.m., Trail and Greater District RCMP officers initiated a traffic stop with a 2007 Dodge Calibre containing three occupants in the 700 block of Victoria Street, in downtown Trail,” Wicentowich said.

“An RCMP officer arrested one of the occupants, a 32-year-old Trail man, as he had an outstanding endorsed Warrant of Arrest. A search of the man and vehicle subsequent to his arrest allegedly located 55 grams of a substance believed to be Fentanyl, 38 grams of a substance believed to be Methamphetamine, a loaded shotgun, and an imitation handgun.

“Trail RCMP will be recommending drug and weapons charges be laid against the 32-year-old Trail man.”

The man is currently back in custody after being released on conditions and allegedly breaking his curfew.

“One of the officers checked his residence, and he was not there,” Wicentowich added. “Later he was found as a passenger in a vehicle.”

The man’s next court date is Thursday.

As for the other occupants, Wicentowich said the investigation continues.

“We’re conducting an investigation into the participation and culpability of the other two people in the vehicle.”
