Be prepared for another blast of winter.
Environment Canada issued a Snowfall Warning for most of BC, including the West Kootenay/Boundary region Saturday.
Environment Canada said the Snowfall Warning is for this weekend, with the threat of 15 to 25 cm of snow expected beginning Saturday afternoon and into Sunday.
“A significant weather system is forecast to move across the BC Interior this weekend,” Environment Canada said.
“Snow will begin (Saturday) afternoon and become heavy tonight.
“Snow will taper off to flurries Sunday afternoon as the system moves out of the area.”
Environment Canada said there will be greater accumulations — 25 to 40 cm — of snow at higher elevations — Highway 3, Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass.
Environment Canada said the public should consider non-essential travel until conditions improve as rapidly accumulating snow can make travel difficult in some locations.
“Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times,” Environment Canada said.
“Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.”
