Roommate allegedly beaten with baseball bat over minor dispute

A minor disagreement allegedly led to a serious assault over the weekend, according to Trail RCMP top cop Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.

On July 7, at 3:20 p.m. the Trail RCMP responded to a complaint of a 46-year-old male suspect allegedly assaulting his 34-year-old male roommate with a baseball bat in the 1700 block of Groutage Avenue. 

“The RCMP attended the scene and located the victim with injuries consistent with being struck by a bat,” he said. “The victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance to have his injuries further assessed. The suspect was located, arrested, and taken into custody by the RCMP.   

“Apparently, it was a dispute over damage to the property and rent,” he said. “The victim was released from hospital, and the suspect was released on conditions pending his first court appearance.”

The 46-year-old male suspect with make his first appearance on Oct. 10 at 9 a.m. in Provincial Court, in Rossland.
