Police are looking for public tips to help find a man who almost ran down a toddler while fleeing police on a dirt bike this afternoon, according to RCMP. Cpl. Brett Turner.

“I was doing patrols and witnessed what appeared to be an uninsured dirt bike tailgating a car near Columbia Road and Waterloo Road (south side of Hwy 3 in Ootischenia),” Turner said, adding that’s when police activated their emergency equipment in an attempt to pull the dirt bike over.

“The driver then accelerated and sped away, and in the process, almost struck a young child on a tricycle.”

Police did not engage in pursuit for safety reasons, but are actively searching for the driver and the vehicle in question.

Turner said the dirt bike is white and yellow, possibly a Suzuki, driven by a male driver wearing a yellow helmet

“He almost killed a kid today,” Turner said. “We want to find him.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call RCMP at 250-365-7721 or call Crimestoppers anonymously at 1-888-222-8477 (you can refefrence file number 2019-1830).
