BC Hydro would like to notify the public about changes to the discharge rates from Arrow Lakes Reservoir that will take place on Friday, Feb. 21 and Saturday, Feb. 22:

·         At 7 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, the discharge rate will increase from approximately 807 cubic metres per second (28,500 cubic feet per second) to about 850 cubic metres per second (30,000 cubic feet per second).

·         At 7 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, the discharge rate will increase from approximately 850 cubic metres per second (30,000 cubic feet per second) to about 991 cubic metres per second (35,000 cubic feet per second).

·         At 8 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, the discharge rate will increase from approximately 991 cubic metres per second (35,000 cubic feet per second) to about 1133 cubic metres per second (40,000 cubic feet per second).

These changes are due to Columbia River Treaty coordination agreements. When combined with the outflows from the Kootenay River, Columbia River levels at Birchbank are expected to see an increase in water levels of about 0.6 metres (2 feet) over two days from the current levels.  Please make safety your top priority when planning activities near the Columbia River.
