Former long time Rossland resident and MacLean Elementary and RSS grad (1999) Trevor Kew has had his third novel, Breakaway, selected by the Canadian Children's Book Centre as one of its '2012 Best Books for Kids and Teens' in its Canadian Children's Literature Guide. Here's a link to the Guide:

Not only does Andrew Bennett keep us all entertained and informed of the goings-on in Rossland, he contributes to our community in a big way. One small example was his dedication to cancer prevention, shaving off his hair and raising over $500 to support Prevent Cancer Now.

Thanks so much, Andrew! You are a prince among men (albeit a somewhat hair-less one).

I am just wondering why there was a picture on the front page of this paper of the people who support the parking etc changes to the main street.  But there is nary a word about the number of people who went to the City Council meeting on Monday to offer their opinion on the issue against parking changes.
