Over fifteen students from Selkirk College's Recreation, Fish & Wildlife, Community Support Worker and Nursing programs will fulfill their course requirements internationally this year. Selkirk College has an ongoing partnership with an environmental institute in Santiago which has sent many Chilean students to study in the Renewable Resources program at Selkirk.

The European Space Agency (ESA) reported on Friday that the Wilkins Shelf, an enormous Antarctic ice shelf half the size of Scotland, could break away from the continent very soon.
According to reports, only a thin strip of ice connects it to the Charcot Island, and cracks are expanding rapidly.

A Spanish court is considering opening a criminal investigation into whether six former George W. Bush administration officials gave legal cover for torture at Guantanamo Bay.

Mohamed Nasheed, the leader of the Maldives, has announced that the country will become carbon-neutral within a decade by completely switching to renewable energy sources.
