Today in Dawson Creek, at 9:15 a.m. local time, police reported that two gas pipeline bombs have now hit the area. As a result of these incidents, local residents are now concerned for their safety.

Classified memos have revealed that the Bush administration knowingly endorsed waterboarding and other torture methods for use against terrorist suspects. The memos were issued to the CIA in 2003 and 2004 as classified documents in response to the department's former director George Tenet's request for White House approval.

Stock markets across the world have fallen dramatically once more as worries that recent government moves might not prevent a global recession. The largest drop was with the the Dow Jones(DJIA), which fell 678 points, or more then 7.3%, to below 9,000 to close at 8,579.19. The index has fallen over 2,000 points in the past nine days to reach its lowest level since 2003.

The Icelandic internet bank, Icesave, has suspended all 300,000 of its UK customer accounts, leaving account holders in the United Kingdom unable to withdraw or deposit any funds. A message on its website posted this morning states: "We are not currently processing any deposits or any withdrawal requests through our Icesave internet accounts.

The government of the United Kingdom leaked its plans yesterday to launch a program which will monitor every British citizen's emails, internet browsing records, and telephone conversations. While a specific plan has not been reached, UK ministers agreed on spending up to £12 billion (USD$21.2 billion) on the new spying system.

On April 4, 2008 Bobbi-jo Arnold, accompanied by her mother Mary Patricia Moore and other family members, claimed a $3.5 million lottery ticket win in Toronto. On October 2 the two women were arrested by Ontario Police. Both are facing charges including fraud over $5000, possession of property obtained by crime, false pretenses and uttering a forged document.
