The BC General Employees’ Union (BCGEU) public service bargaining unit will begin targeted job action at select BC Liquor Distribution Branch wholesale and distribution centres at 3:30 pm today after issuing strike notice on Friday, August 12.

The Keremeos Creek fire has grown to more than 2,700 hectares BC Wildfire Service said on its website Sunday.

BC Wildfire Service said the size of the wildfire, located approximately 21 kilometers southwest of Penticton, is  estimated to be 2790 hectares as of 4 p.m. August 1.

Long weekends mean more vehicles – and crashes – on B.C. roads said the Insurance Corporation of BC (ICBC) said in a recent media release.

ICBC said that an average, three people are killed and 560 injured in crashes over the B.C. Day long weekend every year — including in the Southern Interior where one person is killed and 85 people are injured in 350 crashes.
