In a historic moment, 44th Engineer Squadron enrolled a new member on Thursday May 13th. The new member was Sharman Thomas Junior, now a third generation member of the squadron, marking a first in the unit’s almost 75-year history.

To The Editor:

Just before last fall’s election, the BC NDP released its report on old-growth logging.  They said they were implementing all the panel’s recommendations and that they were protecting hundreds of thousands of hectares of forest. One of the recommendations was immediate deferral of logging old-growth forests.

New COVID-19 cases in Kootenay Boundary have decreased according to the release Wednesday of the B.C. Centre of Disease Control website of the Geographic Distribution of COVID-19 by Local Health Area of Case Residence map.

The map, one of the many graphics on the BC Centre of Disease Control website, shows the highest numbers of COVID-19 cases in Golden (12) and Nelson (10).

Rossland City Council held a Special Meeting on Tuesday, May 11, by Zoom, at 11:00 am; all members were present.  The meeting was needed to rescind and replace the previous Council motions, unanimously approved on April 19, 2021, awarding the tender for the Mid-Town Mixed-use project, because of a 'transcription error" from the original tender.
