'Realignment of the ramp' blamed for service interruption Saturday on Kootenay Lake Ferry

Saturday morning, service on the Kootenay Lake Ferry was interrupted due to issues with the dock a spokesperson for the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure said.
MOTI said that at approximately, 8 a.m. the Kootenay Lake Ferry was “out of service” at the Balfour Terminal.
“Realignment of the ramp was required as a result of the mooring lines not releasing,” Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure said in an emailed statement to The Nelson Daily Sunday.
DriveBC reported on its website that the service was interrupted and the ferry traffic resumed Saturday afternoon.
“Realignment work commenced immediately and the ferry was back in service for the 1:10 p.m. sailing,” said Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.
The Kootenay Lake ferry runs across Kootenay Lake, 35 kilometres east of Nelson on Highway 3A, between Balfour (west side) and Kootenay Bay (east side).
The Kootenay Bay ferry terminal is 70 kilometres from Creston on Highway 3A.
Capacity of the two boats, M.V. Osprey 2000, is 80 vehicles and 250 passengers while the M.V. Balfour can accommodate 28 vehicles and 150 passengers.
