All clear message given after bomb scare forces evacuation of L.V. Rogers High School
Students at L.V. Rogers High School received an early start on Halloween trick or treating after the facility was evacuated Tuesday morning due to a bomb scare.
A social media post by the City of Nelson said that all students and faculty had been safely evacuated following the scare.
Nelson Police, local RCMP and Nelson Fire and Rescue Services staff conducted a comprehensive sweep of the premises with nothing found.
“The scene at LVR has been cleared,” the afternoon City of Nelson social media post said.
“Nothing suspicious was found. The School has been turned back over to staff and faculty.”
The message on the Kootenay Lake School District website release said that, “L.V. Rogers Secondary School is closed October 31, 2023 during the afternoon. The School will re-open November 1, 2023.”
During the sweep of the school, Nelson Police staff maintained a one-block perimeter around the facility while officers conducted a search of the building.
