Rossland Rec on re-opening
Many of us are eager to get out and socialize and have fun – with other people. When and how can we do that safely? The Rossland Recreation department has sent the following press release. Here’s the official word – so far:
The City of Rossland and the Recreation Department continue to monitor the COVID‐19 pandemic and guidelines put forth by health authorities to ensure the ongoing safety of all community members and City staff. The Province of BC has outlined BC’s Restart Plan here: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/public‐safety‐and‐emergency‐services/emergency‐preparedness‐response‐recovery/gdx/bcs_restart_plan_web.pdf.
Rossland Recreation is working with the appropriate organizations to plan a return to programming, and to stay within the recommendations, we have postponed or cancelled all programs starting in May 2020. These programs include:
·Tots Soccer
·TotsT‐Ball
·Youth Triathlon Prep
·All Levels Volleyball
·Advanced Volleyball
·Co‐Ed Basketball
·Pickleball
· Group Cycling Classes
·Fitness Knowledge
·PoolSafe
·Pool Operators Level 1 and 2
Rossland Recreation will be working to offer ‘Spring’ programs for activities where possible and will be amending summer programs as needed according to the Province’s Restart Plan. Registration for spring programs will be available online after May 18th, 2020 and registration for summer programs will be available online after June 8th, 2020.
In addition, Rossland Recreation is moving some of its programs online in the interim. You can register for these programs at www.rossland.ca/recreation and will receive communication after registering for how to access the classes virtually. These classes include:
· Kids Boogie
· MUV and Groove Hip Hop
· Art in the Attic
The following programs are available virtually locally/provincially, replacing programs we were offering previously.
· Group Cycling classes:
— Oranj Fitness–Castlegar: https://oranjfitness.com/castlegar/
— The Nadi Tree–Trail: https://thenaditree.com/
· PoolSafe: https://elearn.bcrpa.bc.ca/
· Fitness Knowledge
— CFES: https://www.canadianfitness.net/certification/courses/136‐cfes‐fitness‐knowledge‐homestudy.html
We expect that the Rossland Pool opening will be delayed until July1st, to ensure we can open the facility within the provincial and regional recommendations. Most other City facilities and fields will begin to open according to the Province’s Restart Plan – we expect that to begin sometime in late May or early June.
