East Pointers at the Flying Steamshovel in October
Rossland’s Flying Steamshovel often hosts musicians who perform in larger centres on their tours. One example is the East Pointers, a JUNO-award-winning, Celtic-inspired Canadian trio who will play at the Shovel in October. They’re beginning their fall tour in a few places south of the border, such as Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Muncie, Indiana, then returning to Canada to make music in venues including Medicine Hat, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Ottawa, Hamilton, Toronto . . . and Rossland.
The East Pointers include fiddler and singer Tim Chaisson, banjoist Koady Chaisson and guitarist Jake Charron.
Their 2017 Juno Award was for Traditional Roots Album of the Year, for Secret Victory. In 2016, they won a Canadian Folk Music Award for Ensemble of the Year. Recently they were awarded four honours in Prince Edward Island: Group Recording of the Year, Roots Contemporary Recording of the Year, Song of the Year and Touring Artist of the Year. Their new album, What we Leave Behind, has been nominated for a 2018 JUNO award.
This group has toured the globe – now it’s Rossland’s turn to hear their winning sound. Tickets for their show on Wednesday, October 17 are available from the Flying Steamshovel at $15 plus taxes, or online here.
