Investigators need to speak to good Samaritans from Hwy 97 Christmas Eve crash
The investigation into a serious crash along Hwy 97 North of Penticton BC, early in the day on Christmas Eve at Kickininee Park is continuing. RCMP South OkanaganTraffic Services investigators need to speak to a middle aged couple who tended to the injured prior to the ambulance arrival.
On the morning of Dec. 24, 2015, at around 8:30 am the RCMP South Okanagan Traffic Services attended to a report of a two vehicle collision which occurred on Highway 97 North of Penticton by the Kickininee Park. The collision involved two vehicles with scene examination determining that a brown Honda Odyssey van was travelling northbound when the adult male driver crossed the centre line and collided with a southbound Chevrolet Spark sedan driven by an adult female.
The drivers and sole occupants of each vehicle were injured and transported by BCAS to Penticton Regional Hospital for medical treatment. The female driver of the purple Chevrolet Spark is still in hospital and in serious but stable condition. The male driver of brown Honda Odyssey van was injured but released from hospital. Both were from the Summerland area.
While on scene, RCMP officers observed a middle-aged couple providing medical assistance to the male driver of the Honda Odyssey van. The couple provided assistance until BC Ambulance arrived on scene to take over care of the young man. RCMP investigators need to speak to this couple who left the scene prior to being identified and interviewed by investigators.
As the investigation into this collision continues, investigators need to speak to this couple and are asking the media and public’s assistance in contacting the good Samaritans.
