Semi vs Honda head-on crash has police praising public
Police are crediting residents’ good driving habits for the lack of injury in a head-on crash of a semi truck and a Honda CRV on Highway 3B in front at AM Ford yesterday.
At roughly 5 p.m., according to RCMP Sgt. Darren Oelke, a red Honda CRV was travelling westbound and slid into oncoming traffic – directly into a semi truck heading eastbound. Miraculously, there were no serious injuries.
“It was glare ice – the road conditions were brutal,” said Oelke, who had driven that same stretch himself, only about 15 minutes before the accident. “It’s because everyone was travelling so slowly that no one was hurt.
“It’s been great that people are driving for the conditions,” he said. “People are sensible here – they use winter tires, they drive to the conditions, and it it’s really bad, they stay home. Motorists here really deserve an, ‘atta boy’.”
The highway was closed for a short period while the accident was cleared.
