Nelson Nordic Ski Club hosted the Teck Kootenay Cup #5 cross country ski race on February 2nd.  We had a record 125 participants from ages 4 through 60.  The race was a free style mass start design so we had lots of competitors across the start line.

The course looped its way around the hills by our lodge and spectators had a great view of the action.  Participants came from Rossland, Castlegar, Fernie, Hills and Nelson.

We had very generous donations from all our sponsors including medals, banners and bibs from Teck and many great draw prizes from local businesses.  Our local grocery stores and a restaurant provided some wonderful food and soup for our after race meal.

The Younger age categories had some stiff competition with some close finishes.

The Masters Men’s category had the most competitors and lots of fun around the course.

The Aggregate Award went to Rossland’s BlackJack team for the most points accumulated over the ski season in the Teck Kootenay Cup Series.
