Source readers really stepped up, answering the call for photos of Pass Creek to give Global TV as they prepare to feature the community in a news segment this Sunday. Roll your mouse over each photo to find out where it was taken and by whom.

Pass Creek will be in the limelight Sept. 16, when Global Morning News (Channel 7) features the community in its Small Town Segment with Wesla Wong. It will air three times between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Pass Creek Fall Fair secretary Donna Smith said she suggested the area to Global, after similar segments featured Castlegar and Robson.

“They do a small town feature every weekend -I thought it would tie in nicely with the Fall Fair, and it’s good way to promote the Kootenays and the community,” Smith said.

The Pass Creek Fall Fair, entering its 17th year, is slated to run throughout Sept. 22 and 23, and Smith said this year there’s even more to showcase.

“There’s the first annual Dirty Digger Days, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both days,” she said. “Kids will have a chance to work heavy equipment with professional equipment operators. They’re doing an obstacle course, which is pretty cool.”

Then there’s the Show ‘N Shine Saturday, the dog agility show Sunday, more than 30 vendors (with more signing on all the time) for both days. The Lions Club will present its annual family carnival, there’ll be pancake breakfasts both mornings, and both days will feature live animal displays, blacksmithing demos, live entertainment on the main stage and, of course, tons of food, draws, and prizes.

“We’re even challenging Nelson and Trail to come compete in categories like best wine/ale,” Smith said, adding the kids’ categories all feature cash prizes.

“There’s just going to be so much for people to do and see and enjoy.”
