“Bear Dude” Allan Piche and his wife, Kathleen Wickie won’t be sentenced for their alleged production and possession of marijuana on their Christina Lake property until Thursday, Oct. 16.

The couple was charged for growing and possessing marijuana for the purpose of trafficking after RCMP West Kootenay Traffic Service found 1,102 marijuana plants during a search warrant they executed on July 30, 2010.

No plea has been entered by either Piche or Wickie on the drug charges.

Crown Counsel asked to have the date for sentencing changed to Oct. 16 because he was awaiting submissions in the Grand Forks Law Courts on Monday, Sept. 10.

While digging out the marijuana, police also discovered that up to 24 bears were being fed on the property. Piche has since been found guilty of feeding the wildlife and was fined $6,000 earlier this year.

Rock Creek man sentenced to $2,500 for being drug mule for a friend

Rock Creek resident Edison Kueber was told he “needed to be slapped in the head” for acting as a drug mule for a friend by BC Judge Donald Sperry in Grand Forks Law Courts, Monday, Sept. 10.

Kueber was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking after RCMP found less than three kilograms in his vehicle during a routine road check on Mar. 19, 2012. The pot was bagged in small amounts, said Crown Counsel.

Kueber was ordered to pay $2,500 within the next six months.

Judge Sperry gave the clean cut young man, who appeared alongside his supportive grandfather, a severe reprimanded and reminded him that not only will he be paying for his actions now, but in the future when his possession charges will prevent him from crossing the border.
