The Castlegar Rebels spent the weekend more than making up for Friday’s 5-3 loss to the Ghostriders in Fernie, winning on home ice Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday saw the Rebels redeemed after hosting the Ghostriders and winning 2-1.

In the first period, Rebel Tyler Robinson (24) took a power-play goal assisted byStuart Walton (7) and Nolan Kinney (11). Just minutes later, Ghostrider Derek Georgopoulos (10) tied the game for Fernie, to the distress of almost 250 Castlegar fans in the stands.   The Rebels once again pulled ahead in the second period, sneaking one past Fernie goalie Chris Solecki (30), thanks to Rebel Tyler Robinson (24) assisted by Kody Disher (22) and Braydon Horcoff (10).   The third period was scoreless but exciting as Fernie scrambled for a second goal – without success.   This final score was 2-1 Castlegar, with the Rebels taking a total of 5 penalties compared to Fernie’s 7 and getting 22 shots on goal beside Fernie’s 32.   Rebel goalie Connor Beauchamp had a great night – as he did during Sunday night’s shut-out when Castlegar hosted the Columbia Valley Rockies and nailed an 8-0 win.  The Rebels are on the road next weekend, challenging in Kimberley, Invermere and Golden.
