Kootenay Ice Midgets host Rockets at NDCC Arena
Nelson hockey fans get one of only a few good looks at the Kootenay Ice as the B.C. Major Midget Hockey League club opens the home season Saturday in at the NDCC Arena against the Okanagan Rockets.
The Ice enter the weekend series, 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 9:30 a.m. Sunday, winless in two starts after beginning the BCMMHL season in Nanaimo against the North Island Silvertips.
The Ice are led by returning forward Jake Lucchini of Trail, who leads the team in scoring with a pair of goals and goalie Kimberley Newell.
Kootenay was idle last weekend but played a pair of games against the Okanagan Hockey Association from Penticton in Grand Forks.
The next home games for the Ice will be played October 22 & 23 (Cariboo Cougars) in Castlegar and November 5 & 6 (Vancouver Northeast Chiefs) in Trail.
