The Rock 'N Art Show revealed in Robson
Creativity is soon to abound in Robson, with the first-ever Rock ‘N Art Show Aug. 19 – 21.
Organizer Joshau Leeworthy said he hopes any and all artists looking to increase their profile come on out and participate.
“I just wanted a decent venue for local artists and musicians to showcase their work,” he said. We need to get these artists out of their hiding places – There are established artist communities, but they don’t always cater to every style of artist. The Rock ‘N Art Show will be very open-door. If you make clothing, it’s art, and you’re welcome.” He said there will be a food concession and booths, but no alcohol, as he wants to keep the venue very family-friendly. He said the Friday night will be more laid back, with deejays and jam sessions, and local bands will be playing all weekend – including Leeworthy’s own band, Hopium. “Ryan Karelea, of Energy Rock Radio, will be the emcee, and his radio station is hosting the event, broadcasting it on internet radio,” he said. “He’ll have a booth where artists can drop off demo work and start getting themselves out there.” Admission will be a donation to the Community Harvest Food Bank. The event is slated to begin at 4 p.m. Aug. 19 and run until 12:30 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Robson Community Hall – anyone wanting to participate should contact Leeworthy 250-608-0726. “I want a different venue where all kinds of artists feel comfortable sharing their creativity and can feel good about what they’re doing.”
