Selkirk College Peace Studies students will be putting on a display called ‘An Alternative Timeline of History’, at Selkirk College Castlegar Campus in The Pit on Nov 29th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. This over 100 foot display of photos, exhibits and captions provides a timeline of history over the last thousand years.

Trail is known as the City of Champions, but Rossland's Michael Gifford is hoping that Rossland may have a champion or two lurking around as well. Why? Well, after orchestrating four highly successful seasons of the Joe Hill Coffee House, Mark II, Gifford is looking to pass the torch to someone new.

"Every organization needs at least one champion to put the pieces together. I have championed Joe Hill Coffeehouse since the spring of 2008, started the first show in September of 2008, and now we are looking at our 29th show coming this November 20, 2011."

As local bears hunker down for their long winter naps, the Rossland Council for Arts and Culture (RCAC) plans to immortalize the iconic beasts with a downtown bear sculpture that will represent "the integration of nature and community."

The Rossland Council for Arts and Culture presents the one-man show: I Ain’t Dead Yet, performed and written by Tim Machin from the life and writing of Woody Guthrie. “I Ain’t Dead Yet” is a one man show based on the life and times of Woody Guthrie the famous American folk singer and social activist. 

Over the course of this one hour show, the audience joins Woody Guthrie as he reflects on his life, intertwining memories, stories and songs.

 Spirit of Red will host their annual Snow Dance on Nov. 19 and hope to break through their fundraising goal of $17,000 to secure a life-size bronze statue of Olaus Jeldness, "the father of skiing in Rossland," for the conspicuous corner of Columbia and Washington in downtown Rossland.

Public skating at the Arena is on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:45pm, Fridays from 5:00-6:30pm, Sundays from 2:30-4:00pm and then again from 6:00-7:30pm.  The Sunday 2:30pm skate sometimes cancels as a result of Minor Hockey Tournaments.  This Sunday, November 13, Public Skating is from 2:30-4:00pm and again from 6:00-7:30pm.  Please check the website to confirm, or give the Recreation Department a call at 250-362-2327.  Skate rentals are available if you don’t have your own.  If you do own skates and you need them sharpened, the Arena Attendant would be happy to sharpen t

Toes will tap and energy will soar as the talented Russian musicians and dancers from the Roma Gry Gypsy Dance Group of Vancouver take to the stage at the Grand Forks Secondary School Auditorium on Saturday, November 12 at 7:30 p.m.

The Boundary District Arts Council presents this exotic and whirling evening of passionate choreographed Gypsy dance with live music, colourful traditional Gypsy costumes and props to add a sense of realism.
