A Castlegar 10-year-old remains comparatively unharmed after being hit by a car outside his school this morning (Tuesday), according to local RCMP.
 
The accident happened on 7th Avenue just after 8 a.m., in the tri-school area downtown, said RCMP Sgt.

Around 250 marijuana plants were seized by RCMP from two “sophisticated” grow operations in Salmo on Thursday.

The investigation into the property began following a traffic stop in May of 2011 in which 21 marihuana plants and several pounds of marihuana were seized from two adult men in the Salmo area.

Alex Atamanenko, MP, (BC Southern Interior) says he’s pleased he will be continuing in his efforts as one of the four members of the official opposition who will sit on the Agriculture Committee.

“I know that Malcolm Allen, our Party’s new Agriculture Critic will do an outstanding job representing Canadian farmers,” stated Atamanenko. “He is counting on me to bring western farming issues to his attention and I look forward to doing just that.”

To put our thoughts into words, we have an unlimited capacity to produce vocabulary.  We will coin no new numbers.

Roughly 25 volunteers were on hand to scour the neighbourhoods and highways for all forms of trash and debris at the 11th annual Christina Lake cleanup, organized by the Christina Lake Stewardship Society.
 
Of particular note on Saturday, May 28, were the efforts of six time volunteer seven-year-old Allison Palmer. Allison, who has been cleaning up her hometown since the age of two, was by far the champion cleaner on the day.
 
“It’s really a lot of fun to come out and help out,” she said.

While I don't like to get hung up on numbers, it does help people learn to make more conscious food decisions when they can actually see tangible evidence that the "granola" bar they ate contained mostly fat (and sugar!), and in fact was just a glorified chocolate bar.
