RCMP looking for assistance in possible suicide
The Trail & Greater District RCMP Detachment issued a press release late Monday afternoon looking for more information on what appears to have been a possible suicide.
At 10:50 a.m. this past Saturday, a pair of shoes were found on the sidewalk near the center of the Victoria Avenue bridge. While how the shoes got there and who they belong to is unknown, a possible suicide is suspected.
A piece of paper which, according to the RCMP, appeared to be a suicide note was found in one of the shoes, with only a first name signed. That name has not been released at this point.
Following the report of the shoes and the note being found, the Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue launched their rescue boat and searched up and down the river, from the bridge to the US border. That search turned up nothing out of the ordinary.
Currently, there is no further information as to whom the person belonging to the shoes and the note may be. So far, no witnesses with information regarding the shoes have come forward.
At the time of the press release, police had no reports of anyone missing and inquiries with local agencies have been negative.
If you have any information on missing persons or any knowledge into what may have happened sometime prior to 10:50 a.m. on June 5, the RCMP are asking that you contact them.
