Staring down the potential loss of its school’s as well as what could amount to being one of the most expensive projects in recent Rossland history the City got behind two worthy initiatives.
May 13th – Saving Rossland’s Schools: The City puts its money where its heart is
The City of Rossland put it’s money where it’s heart was in May as they pledged $10,000 in matching grant dollars to the Neighbourhoods of Learning committee even as they faced flack from other area communities for doing so.
“I find it almost appalling that people would somehow find fault with the City of Rossland for putting some monies in to help the school district keep our schools viable. It’s totally beyond me that other politicians in the area have asked me questions like, ‘$10,000? What are you guys trying to do?'”
May 20th Columbia Avenue rebuild: What does your ideal downtown look like?
Games of mental sim-cty got revved up in May as the City kicked off a series of design charettes to engage residents in the Columbia Avenue rebuild process and get ideas for potential downtown surface improvements .
