The new Kootenay Wild, formerly the Wildcats, tuned up for the start of the BC Hockey Female Midget AAA League Showcase with a split against Banff this past weekend at the NDCC Arena in Nelson.

The Wild doubled the Alberta squad 4-2 Sunday after falling 1-0 during Saturday’s opener.

Hannah Nordli scored twice to lead the Wild with singles going to Kelsey Patterson and Haley Elias.

Catalina Hartland was in net for Kootenay, a collection of female players from throughout the region.

Kootenay departs Thursday afternoon for Surrey to play in the Showcase Weekend at the Surrey Sport & Leisure Centre.
