West Kootenay Camera Club's 25th Anniversary show set for June

Now we wait.

The deadline has passed for the West Kootenay Camera Club’s 25th Anniversary of its annual Photo Show.

The Photo Show will take place from June 5-13 at the Kootenay Gallery in Castlegar, coinciding with the Castlegar SunFest.  

In celebration of its 25th Anniversary, the Club will host a Youth competition.

The Annual Photo Show is a juried event with qualified judges from varied backgrounds in both photography and the world of art.  This year’s judges are from Spokane, WA and Kelowna, BC. 

The West Kootenay Camera Club show showcases photographers of all ages, members and non-members, in nine categories:  Wildlife, Nature, Human Interest, Creative Images, Flowers, Plants or Fruit, Portraiture, Architecture, Travel and an Open category. 

Ribbons are awarded to First, Second and Third photos in each category.

Youth, aged 6-15, are invited to participate in the Youth competition.  Youth aged 6-10 are can enter one 4” x 6” photo of a “Pet or Pets”, and, Youth, aged 11-15, can enter one 4” x 6” photo of “Friends”. 

Ribbons will be awarded for the winners of First, Second and Third in each age category. 

The public is invited to view the display of all photographs at the Kootenay Gallery in Castlegar, from June 5–13th, 2015.  

The official opening of the event will take place on Friday evening,  June 5th, from 6-9 p.m.  Throughout the weekend, June 5-7, visitors to the Gallery can cast a vote for one looney to help select the People’s Choice Award photo. 

The winner of the “Looney prize draw” will win a framed photograph by one of the Club members.
