Tourism Rossland has reduced the operating hours of the Free Ride Ski Bus for the remainder of the ski season.  As of March 20,  the last bus leaves downtown Rossland at 6:30 pm, and the last bus from Red Mountain Resort leaves at 7:00 pm.

The reduced schedule allows the bus service to continue operating for the rest of the ski season despite funding limitations.  Tourism Rossland’s Andras Lukacs explained, “after reviewing user data, the board of Tourism Rossland concluded that cancelation of the late-evening service would have the least impact on our visitors, residents and local businesses.”

The Free Ride Ski Bus is currently financed through the Resort Municipality Initiative with additional funding contributed from various tourism stakeholders.  The service provides an essential transportation link between downtown Rossland and the ski hill, saves greenhouse gas emissions, and is highly rated by visitors as an amenity.  Last year the bus gave over twenty thousand rides.

Tourism Rossland is committed to working with stakeholders to create a sustainable funding model to allow the service to continue.
