UPDATED: NPD report public assistance no longer required in search for missing man

Nelson Police have said in a media statement Monday evening the department no longer requires the public’s assistance in the search for John Vincent.

Vincent had been reported missing since Friday (September 25).

NPD received unconfirmed reports of Vincent sightings in the areas of Sproat Dr, John’s Walk, Red Sands Beach and Bealby Point Rd.

Since Friday Search and Rescue crews from Nelson, Castlegar and surrounding areas have been searching the mountain sides in and around the Heritage City looking for the 28-year-old Vincent.

In the release NPD gave no other information regarding the disappearance of Vincent but thanked those who assisted and provided information during the search.

The Nelson Daily contacted NPD to ask for more information but was directed to call back Tuesday morning.

NPD release more information about missing man

Nelson Police have released more information regarding the missing man from Nelson.

NPD Cst. Jarrett Slomba said police and members of Nelson Search and Rescue  continue efforts in locating John Vincent, believed to be in the Nelson area.

Slomba said the 28-year-old Vincent is believed to be wearing a Grey wool or fleece jacket — possibly same as in updated attached photo — blue jeans and a grey and white toque possibly with red X’s stitched on it. 

Vincent is also believed to be carrying a large backpack as well as a black canvas guitar case. 

Slomba said Vincent is confirmed to have been seen walking on Awesome View Rd in Beasley on Thursday (September 24) at approximately 2 p.m. and was believed to be headed to the Nelson area at that time. 

NPD received unconfirmed reports of Vincent sightings in the areas of Sproat Dr, John’s Walk, Red Sands Beach and Bealby Point Rd.

Nelson Police ask public assistance in finding missing man

Nelson Police has requested public assistance in finding a missing man in the Heritage City.

Sgt. Dino Falcone said in a NPD release the police are investigating a suspicious circumstance in locating John Vincent.
 
Vincent is described as a caucasian male, 27 years old, 6’1”, 160 pounds brown hair, brown eyes, wearing autumn colour clothing, a toque and carrying a large backpack.
 
Vincent is  believed to be last seen in the John’s Walk area located in the east side of Nelson on Thursday (September 24)  at approximately 6 p.m..
