UPDATED: Highway 3 near Paulson Bridge open to traffic

Emcon Services Inc., maintenance contractor for the Paulson pass continues to monitor a section of Highway 3 washed out Sunday.

The parts of the shoulder and road were washed away leaving travelers using the road to deal with single-alternating traffic control.

The TranBC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastruture website said the maintenance contractor is currently monitoring that stretch of Highway 3 and is working on repairs.

The washout is located on Highway 3 two kilometers east of the Paulson Bridge.

Other stretches of Highways 3 dealing with flooding issues include:

  • Highway 3 – City of Greenwood, city culvert failing which passes under Highway 3, the road is open and monitoring is being done in conjunction with city.

Washout near Paulson Bridge closes westbound lane of Highway 3

DriveBC is reporting a washout on Highway 3 two kilometers east of the Paulson Bridge Sunday.

The website said the washout has closed the westbound lane, affecting traffic heading from Castlegar to Christina Lake.

The washout was smaller Saturday, but has now grown as a large stretch of the highway that has now slid down the bank.

The Paulson pass has been hit with lots of precipitation during the past few days.

Environment Canada is calling for a few showers with thunderstorms ending this evening then partly cloudy and snow level 1500 metres.
