UPDATE: Missing Castlegar boy found, safe and sound

In a press release sent out after 11 p.m. Saturday night, RCMP Cpl. Brett Turner announced that a missing 12-year-old Castlegar boy is back home.

“It is my great pleasure to announce that our missing 12-year-old boy has been located,” Turner said. “After an exhaustive investigation into his latest whereabouts, police were led to the 3200 block of Broadwater Road. Local residents, after seeing recent media Facebook posts, were able to identify him and informed police of his last known position.”

 

Turner said Cpl Arychuk and his police service dog “Chazo” attended the area immediately and began tracking.

 

“After a very lengthy track through dense brush, forests, and mountainous terrain, the missing boy was located. He was cold but unharmed.  He is now safely back at home.

 

“Castlegar RCMP would like to thank all of the people who assisted us with information leading to the successful recovery of our missing child.”

Police are asking the public’s help in locating a12-year-old Castlegar boy who was last seen in his home yesterday at 3 p.m.

Castlegar RCMP Cpl. Brett Turner said Kael Corke is a high-risk youth with a history of running away from home, and police are very concerned for his well-being.

“He’s wearing green rubber boots, we believe he he’swearing a green jacket, and hemight be riding a bike,” Turner said, adding hemayhave boarded a bus to one of the neighbouring communities. “He could be anywhere.”

Turner said Search and Rescue teams are out doing neighbourhood enquiries, and the transit authority has been notified.

Police believe he may be in the Trail area.
