Police are requesting public assistance in finding a dangerous driver who put the public in jeopardy, accrding to RCMP Cpl. Kelly Hall.

“On April 10, at approximately 11:00 a.m., members of the Trail and Greater District RCMP detachment attempted to stop an older white GMC pick up truck in the downtown are of Trail along Eldorado Street,” Hall said. “The driver of the truck refused to stop and fled from police in the alley between Bay Avenue and the Fortis building, then continued along Farwell Street across Bay Avenue and Pine Avenue.

“The vehicle was travelling at an unsafe rate of speed. The downtown core was busy at the time with vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Given the danger to the public, police did not pursue the vehicle. No injuries were reported nor was any damage noted to any property as a result of the event.”

That being said, RCMP would still like to have a word with the driver of the truck, and are asking for help in identifying the vehicle or its occupant.

“An investigation is ongoing in relation to the dangerous driving,” she said. “As such, the Trail and Greater RCMP detachment is respectfully requesting that any witnesses to the event, contact the Trail and Greater District RCMP detachment at (250)364-2566 or Crimestoppers.”
