The Rossland Council for Arts and Culture is pleased to offer a great opportunity for local youth (under age 30) to participate in an Improv Workshop at the Miners Hall at 1pm on Friday February 9th (a P.D. Day). The workshop will be facilitated by professional improv comedians from the VancouverTheatre Sports League. The cost is $10 and includes entrance into the evening performance. No experience with comedy or performance is necessary. This is perfect for anyone who wants to spend the afternoon laughing- and who doesn’t?

Workshop registration details and tickets can be can be purchased at Out of the Cellar (Rossland), and found online at http://rosslandartscouncil.com/upcoming-events/

The evening performance by the VTSL performers takes place at the Miners Hall on the same Friday, February 9th.

Founded in 1980, Vancouver TheatreSports™ League is Vancouver’s #1 improv comedy company and a well-respected international leader in the art form. Boasting six International Improv Comedy Awards and starring in several television specials, VTSL continues to wow audiences at its own theatre on Granville Island, entertaining more than 60,000 people per year. Many VTSL players and alumni have gone on to achieve international fame in the entertainment industry, including: Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie (Whose Line Is It Anyway), Ellie Harvie (The New Addams Family), Dean Haglund (The X-Files, The Lone Gunmen), and Nancy Robertson (Hiccups, Corner Gas).

TheatreSports is never boring, and each performance is totally unique. Two performers will be pitted against each other in competitive matches. Audience suggestions fuel the scenes, and anything can happen! If you enjoyed “Who’s Line is it Anyway?” you will love this performance.

The evening performance also features a warm-up act by local theatre troupe Mythopoeic Productions, examining the relationship that young people have with their technological devices and each other. At the show, RCAC will be conducting a draw for two free tickets to the Remi Bolduc Jazz Ensemble: Swingin’ with Oscar show for any new members who sign up.

Performance Tickets: Youth- $10 Adults- $20.

Doors open at 7 and the show starts at 7:30. Tickets are available at “Out of the Cellar” or online at rosslandartscouncil.com. See you there!
