ROSSLAND: STAGE IV WATER RESTRICTIONS IN EFFECT

Water levels in the small creeks that provide Rossland’s water supply are very low.  Drifting ash from forest fires is reducing the water  treatment plant’s filter function.  No one knows when we may get enough precipitation to make a difference to our water supply — there’s none in the forecast, and offshore conditions are  not promising — so the City has imposed Stage 4 water-use restrictions as of Thursday, August 27.  Here are the details:

a) Watering of lawn areas is prohibited.

b) Garden watering only permitted by hand-held
hose with a spring-loaded shut off device
or by
means of hand-held containers.

c) No water shall be used for swimming pools,
wading pools, garden ponds, or decorative
fountains unless they are self-circulating.

d) Use of hose to wash sidewalks, driveways,
buildings or to water boulevards is prohibited.

e) Home washing of vehicles is prohibited.
