In keeping with the season's spirit of giving, the Rossland Legion has been donating funds to help worthy community causes. Three community groups have recently been beneficiaries of the Legion's charitable giving.  In the photo above, Legion Secretary Irene Krewski and Legion Charities Chairperson Al Sintson present a cheque for $1,500 to Justine Deadmarsh of the Rossland Secondary School's Nutrition Program — to help ensure that children in need get a nutritious lunch.

In the photo below, taken by Jennifer Kirk of the Kootenay Boundary  Regional Hospital (KBRH) Foundation, Al Stinson and Joanne Drystek, past president & Treasurer of the Rossland Legion, present a cheque for $2,000 to Chris D’Arcy, Secretary of the KBRH Foundation.  The funds are to support Popular Ridge Pavilion and the Emergency Department Campaign.

A third donation has gone to the Rossland Search and Rescue group.  In the photo below, taken by Joanne Drystek, Al Stinson presents  a cheque for $500 to Tim Peacock, Manager of Rossland’s Search and Rescue team.  This donation came in part from the memorial for Kenneth McAlpine, and commemorates him as well as recognizing the work that Rossland SAR contributes to our community — helping to bring back lost or injured wanderers safely whenever possible. In an oudoors-oriented community like Rossland, that's especially important, for visiors and locals alike.
