Rossland Food Bank says "Thank you!"

The Rossland Food Bank is very grateful to the many people who put time, energy, and expertise into helping them move to their new location on the south end of the Arena building. The new facility provides an administrative space, a storage room with a refrigerator for perishables and freezers for meat and bread, and a “shopping” area where people can come in from a waiting area inside the door and choose what they need from what is available.
The Rossland Food Bank is operated by a society with charitable status, so they are able to provide tax receipts for significant donations. Chris Ling spoke of the “incredible generosity” of many people in Rossland who make the Food Bank’s work possible, and she submitted the following letter of thanks from all the Food Bank volunteers:
Dear Rosslanders,
The Rossland Food Bank is now operating in the lower level of the Rossland Arena on Second Avenue. The volunteers are thrilled with the new location and hope our clients will appreciate the convenient access.
We owe a great deal to all those involved in settling us into our new site. We are deeply grateful and appreciative of the efforts of those who contributed to locating and preparing the Food Banks’ new home.
Due to the commitment of our City Council and Mayor Moore’s conscientious and determined search for possible locations, we are now operating in a place that fits our needs perfectly.
To Chief Administrative Officer, Brian Teasdale, and Manager of Public Works, Darrin Albo – thank you for suggesting the Arena location . Once the site was settled on, Darrin patiently worked with us to address any questions or concerns that arose. To Wayne, Jeff, Tony, Mike, Marty, Ian and anyone else who worked to transform a basement storage area in the arena into a wonderful, bright, functional area for us – thank you. Your patience and ability to convert our ideas and needs into walls, windows, doors, wiring, lighting, storage and shelving was amazing!
A special thank you and high five goes to Tyler Bryden and two of his crew, Troy and Greg from Bell Pole and Lumber Co. for moving us from the former Rotary Health Centre to the arena. They had our fridge and two freezers and all our stock moved up to the arena in short order. We also thank Interior Signs for contributing our beautiful new overhead sign and the new sandwich board sign.
Thanks to the efforts and support of so many, the volunteers no longer have to save moving boxes and the future of the Rossland Food Bank is certain, now that it has a permanent home.
So once again, from the Food Bank volunteers – a huge thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Rossland rocks!
