It  may be legal to grow pot plants, but they still come with some responsibility, according RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicentowich, who added marijuana is still a controlled substance.

“On Sept. 21,  the Trail and Greater District Detachment RCMP received a complaint that two marihuana (sic) plants were stolen from the yard in the 1900 block of Oak Street in Trail.

“The RCMP would like to remind the public that it is the responsibility of the grower to hide marihuana plants from public view and to take reasonable security measures when producing outdoor marihuana plants.

“Growers could have their marihuana plants seized by the RCMP for growing non-medical marihuana plants that are visible from a public place and face a $230 fine contrary to Section 56(g) of theCannabis Control and Licensing Act.  “
