The Castlegar RCMP are continuing their investigation into the Nov. 20head-on collision which occurred on Hwy 22 between Blueberry and Fairview.

Castlegar Top Cop Sgt. Laurel Mathew said they don’t have reason to believe alcohol, drugs or speed were a factor, but they would like witnesses to help them determine exactly what happened..

“The 78-year-old driver involved in the head on collision that occurred on Hwy 22 on Monday November 20th has died.   RCMP are continuing to investigate the accident. They have spoken to several witnesses to the crash, and through these interviews and further investigation confirmed that the Nissan Quest was travelling south on Hwy 22 but had entered the north bound lane.

“A northbound vehicle was clipped by the Nissan Quest as the driver tried to avoid the head on collision, and a second vehicle behind her also swerved and avoided being struck. A third vehicle, a white Kia Sportage, was hit head on. The driver of that vehicle is recovering.”

Police are asking  anyone who witnessed this accident to contact them at 250-365-7721.
