RCMP put a stop to a pair of significant marijuana grow-ops last month in the Slocan Valley police said in a media release Monday.

The two busts came within a few days during mid-August.

The first seizure happened on (Tuesday) September 12 when police executed a search warrant at property on Highway 6 near Winlaw.

“One female was arrested at the property and more that 400 very large marijuana plants were located along with marijuana bud and various marihuana products,” the RCMP release said.

The release said police continue to investigate and will be requesting charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

A few days later, (Friday) August 15, police located a marijuana grow operation on crown land near Crescent Valley.

“Two males were arrested while harvesting the marijuana plants,” RCMP said.

“More than 150 marihuana plants were being grown in this operation.”

Police said both men were released from custody and will appear in court on a later date.

RCMP said they continue to look for public support to eradicate marijuana as production and possession remains illegal in Canada.

Police encourage the public to report suspicious activities anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
