Olaus Jeldness statue update
The Spirit of Red is pleased to announce the receipt of a major donation to the Olaus Jeldness Statue fund. The Nelson & District Credit Union (Rossland Branch) has contributed $5,000 to the fund in celebration of their 70 years of service to the community. This contribution ensures the success of the project and the addition of a new landmark to the streets of Rossland
The statue project has now reached the casting stage which will take about three weeks. Following the actual creation of the statue it will require another month for it to be shipped to Rossland. The arrival of the statue should coincide with the completion of the reconstruction of Rossland’s main street, making it possible to install the statue in front of the Rouge Gallery shortly thereafter. The official unveiling of Olaus will take place on Saturday of the 116th Rossland Winter Carnival in January, 2013.
Submitted.
