Take a stroll along the Centennial Trail and Moe’s Loop, and watch for new plaques posted along the way — there are 16 altogether, with interesting nuggets of information (and the odd bit of entertaining misinformation, but you’ll be able to tell the differece)  about Rossland’s history.   One  favorite refers to the Rossland Miners Union being responsible for limiting the workday to eight hours, and doing away with “the 8-day workweek.”

Walkers can view all the plaques in a 3-kilometer hike.

The project is the result of a collaboration between  Tourism Rossland and the Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre.  Residents or vistors who would like to learn more about Rossland’s history are encouraged to visit the Museum — a rich source of knowledge.

Deanne Steven from Tourism Rossland said, “this is a great project that highlights our community, increases the opportunities for cultural experiences and encourages visitors to stay longer.”

Libby Martin, Museum President, explained, “We are excited to be able to showcase the museum and the history of our community in a new and unique way.”

This project was funded by a grant from the Community Initiatives Fund from CBT.  The Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre provided the historical content and the photos from their archives, the Kootenay Columbia Trails Society completed the installation, while Tourism Rossland coordinated and sourced the funding.
